Regent Street, just South of Oxford Circus, is renowned for hosting a variety of extravagant events throughout the year, from the regulars such as the Summer Streets shopping and Christmas Lights Switch On to newer and one off events including the very popular Lumiere Festival of Lights in January.
Gumball 3000 is a supercar rally which sees 100 supercars race through 5 countries in 7 days. On bank holiday Monday, May 2nd, Gumball made it’s way through London’s Regent Street, with a day of music, parades and special guests.
Despite not knowing too much about cars myself and having to have my boyfriend talk me through the makes and models, Gumball made for a fun day out. The event proved very popular, with Regent Street full of car enthusiasts setting up camp for the day, families with excited children and even people who had just stumbled across the event and come to see what was going on. The sunny weather and music provided by Absolute Radio also added to the atmosphere of the day.
To me, no matter what’s going on, Regent Street’s special events make for a great day out.
