Sticky Fingers, Kensington

Just off Kensington High Street, only a 3 minute walk from the tube station, you can find Sticky Fingers, an American restaurant owned by Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman.

The restaurant has a fun yet chilled out atmosphere. With it’s red booths, Rock ‘n’ Roll memorabilia coving the walls and classic music it has the feel of an old school American diner. I would describe it as a more authentic and less touristy version of the Hard Rock Cafe, so if you enjoy the Hard Rock experience you’d definitely like it here.

My first experience at Sticky Fingers was on a Monday evening which meant… Monday Madness! Every Monday all mains are up to 50% off so I’d recommend going on this day if you’re looking for somewhere super cheap (not that it’s too expensive without this deal). On MM you can grab a burger for as little as £5.5o, half a bbq chicken for under £7 and a full rack of ribs for £11. Plus all mains come with any side. On top of this, during happy hour (4:30 – 7:30 every night excluding Saturdays) cocktails are almost half price.

I shared cheesy nachos to start (£10 for a portion for 2) then a combo plate of ribs and bbq chicken wings with a side of sweet potato fries for main (£17 – shared between 2), washed down by 2 Lemon Tree cocktails (£4 each). Considering how full, and slightly tipsy, I felt when leaving, it turned out to be a pretty cheap evening.

Reading previous reviews I saw that a few people had complained that the restaurants menu was rather simple, however I would say this is one of the great things about Sticky Fingers. This is not a place you come to for a wide selection of unusual or unique gourmet dishes, this is somewhere you come to for a simple but tasty and filling meal. With the delicious food, large portion sizes and decent prices Sticky Fingers offers I didn’t find the simple menu an issue. What more could you need in a place like this than burgers, hot dogs, ribs, wings and salads? Plus I wouldn’t exactly call the 15 side dishes you have to choose from simple.

My only one complaint would be the lack of desert option. There were only 5 options on the menu; the traditional deep crust apple pie, chocolate brownie, donuts, ice-cream or a large sharing sundae. Although these are all great options, I would have liked to see a few more sundae varieties, and an option to have a single sundae rather than the sharing one. To make up for this however, there was a choice of several milkshakes and alcoholic shakes. I opted for the Pina Colada Ice-Cream Shake.. amazing but very filling!

I would say Sticky Fingers is a great evening out for anyone; families with children, groups of friends or even for date night. You might want to wear some elasticated trousers though if you plan to eat as much as I did!
